The Jalbatross EP was born out of the pandemic, when time off the road finally gave Ryan space to write music purely for fun—and to fulfill a longtime goal of making a record with his brother, Colin. In July 2021, the project came to life in the studio, tracked live over two days with a small crew of close friends and collaborators: Colin Jalbert on drums, Tim Philpott on bass, and The Motet’s Joey Porter on keys. Built on warm analog tones, vintage gear, and a loving studio vibe, the EP captures four musicians in a room, playing together in real time. The result is full of soul and heart—original music with an old-school feel and a modern pulse.
